About this policy
This policy explains the cookies used on our website, www.certify.one, which is run by Certify Skills Limited t/a Certify ("Certify", "we", "us" or "our").
The Certify platform at app.certify.one sets its own cookies, described in our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let the site remember things between pages and visits, such as the cookie choices you have made.
The cookies we use
The cookies on this website fall into three categories, and one more setting covers our own statistics, which use no cookies.
- Strictly necessary. Needed for the site to work, including remembering your cookie choices and which cookie rules apply where you are. These are always on.
- Certify site statistics. We count visits with our own service, which sets no cookies. It is on unless you switch it off, as explained below.
- GoSquared site statistics. We use GoSquared to count visits and see which pages people use, so we can improve the site. IP addresses are anonymised, the statistics are not linked to your identity, and they are not used for advertising. You can switch them on or off at any time.
- Embedded videos. Some pages include a video hosted on YouTube. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play, and then YouTube sets its own cookies. This is off unless you turn it on; while it is off, we ask you each time before a video plays.
We don't use advertising, marketing or social media tracking cookies on this website. The only exception is the cookies YouTube sets when you choose to play a video, described below.
Certify site statistics
Our own statistics service counts visits to each page without cookies and without storing anything in your browser. For each page you view, it records the page, the site that sent you, any campaign tags in the link, your country, and your type of device and browser. To tell one visitor from another within a day, it turns your IP address and browser details into a code that changes every day; your IP address is never stored, and the code can't be used to recognise you on another day. The statistics are not used for advertising and are not linked to your identity.
It is on for everyone. You can switch it off at any time in Cookie settings, and choosing "No thanks" or "Turn off site statistics" in the cookie banner switches it off too. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, nothing is sent at all. Individual page views are kept for 13 months and daily totals for 25 months.
When GoSquared site statistics are on
GoSquared site statistics are on by default for visitors in the UK and other countries outside the EU and EEA, under the UK exemption for cookies used only to produce statistics about a website. If you are in the EU or EEA, they stay off until you choose to allow them, and closing the cookie banner without choosing keeps them off. Wherever you are, you can switch them on or off at any time via Cookie settings. When you switch them off, the GoSquared cookies are deleted and GoSquared no longer loads.
To tell which rules apply, the site uses the country that our hosting provider, Vercel, detects from your IP address. We keep only whether you are inside or outside the EU and EEA, in the certify_region cookie below, and we don't store your IP address or your country. If your country can't be detected, we treat you as being in the EU or EEA.
Embedded videos
Our customer videos are hosted on YouTube, which is run by Google. Until you press play, a video is just an image served from our own website, and nothing is loaded from YouTube. When you press play, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and YouTube (Google) can then set cookies and similar storage in your browser and see that you watched the video. Google may use this information as described in the Google Privacy Policy.
If Embedded videos is off, which it is unless you turn it on, pressing play first tells you the video is on YouTube and lets you choose to play it here, just this once, or watch it on YouTube instead. If you turn Embedded videos on in Cookie settings, videos play as soon as you press play. Turning it off again stops us loading YouTube, but it can't delete cookies YouTube has already set, because they belong to YouTube's websites; you can delete them in your browser settings.

The GoSquared cookies are only set when GoSquared site statistics are on, and YouTube's only when you play a video. The durations are the longest each cookie can last; some browsers shorten them (Chrome, for example, keeps cookies for no more than 400 days).
Changing your choice
You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the foot of every page, or open Cookie settings now. We keep your choice for 12 months and then ask again. We also ask again if we add a new category of cookies, unless it stays off until you choose to use it, as embedded videos do, or sets no cookies and only needs switching off if you don't want it, as Certify site statistics does.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, the site won't be able to remember your choice and will ask you again.
